Tensions are high along the Gaza strip after mourners in the town of Rafah buried two members of the militant group Hamas, who attacked and killed four Israeli soldiers at a military post during the week.

The attack triggered a series of reprisals by Israeli forces who destroyed more than 50 houses in Rafah and Hamas has promised what it called "real punishment against Israel".

Meanwhile, Israeli bulldozers have destroyed large parts of the runway at Gaza airport and planes have attacked a Palestinian naval police post.
