New car sales rise by 50% after introduction of new number plate system
New car sales rose by over 50% in July thanks to the introduction of a new number plate system.
Figures show over 9,000 new cars were licensed in July this year, compared to just over 6,000 in July 2012.
The new 132 number plate was introduced in July, moving car sales into two seasons a year.
