The cousin and a close friend of missing Irish man Ronan Lawlor have arrived in Argentina.

They're to take part in searches for the 28-year-old engineer, who went missing while travelling alone last month.

His backpack was recently discovered in a hostel near Argentina’s border with Chile and it's now believed Ronan went hiking in the Torres del Paine national park in Chile.

Speaking from Argentina, Bernard McCabe said the discovery has raised hopes of finding Ronan.
