An Independent TD has said the Government's handling of the Commission of Investigation into IBRC has been appalling.
John Halligan has said they should have looked at the potential hurdles for the inquiry before it was established.
The government took advice from the Attorney General last week and discussed the issue during yesterday's cabinet meeting but has yet to make any decision on fixing the problems faced.
Deputy Halligan has said the Commission should have been given all the powers it needed from the outset: “You would have thought that the Government would have thought this out very carefully, before this commission was put in place.
“What this was about, what they might stumble into, what might happen and here we are again in Ireland, where this is going to fall apart… this happens in Irish politics the whole time. This is one of the reasons people get so fed up.”
