The father of a man shot at the weekend was recovering in hospital today after also being shot at the front door of a house in a suspected feud-related attack.

The gunman called at the home in Casement Park, Finglas, north Dublin, at around 8pm last night and asked to speak with the 51-year-old victim.

When he came to the door, the attacker opened fire a number of times with a small firearm, hitting the man at least twice in the arm and body.

The victim was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, where his injuries have been described as not life-threatening.

Gardaí have sealed off an area around a house and a forensic examination is expected to be completed today.

The shooting is believed to be connected to another gun attack on the man’s 24-year-old son in the Cappagh House bar in Finglas at the weekend.

Two masked men walked into the pub in Barry Road shortly after midnight on Saturday and opened fire on the man, who was treated for minor injuries.

It is believed the son, who was hit in another gun attack in the car park of the pub in November, is being targeted by criminals with whom he is locked in a personal row.

Both father and son were being treated at the same hospital.

Separately, seven firearms and a quantity of ammunition were recovered during a search of waste ground at Station Road in Clondalkin, west Dublin, last night.

The intelligence-led operation was spearheaded by the Garda South Central Crime Task Force and Clondalkin’s District Detective Unit.

“Investigations are continuing,” said a Garda spokesman.
