The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that a female Irish student in her 20s is one of the victims of this morning's explosion in Kusadasi, Turkey.
The young woman was one of four people so far known to have been killed in the suicide bomb attack on a minibus at the Kusadasi tourist resort.
There are reports that a another of the victims was also Irish. A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said it was aware of reports of another Irish fatality, but they could not confirm this.
They also did not yet have any specific information about other Irish nationals among the injured.
In total 14 other people were injured, several in a critical condition, in the attack by a suspected female teenage bomber.
The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has condemned the atrocity and the Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern has sent condolences to the victim's family.
The Department of Foreign Affairs also said that it is reviewing its travel advice for Turkey in the wake of today's attack, which is the second such incident in the region in the past week.
Kurdish militants claimed responsibility for a bombing that injured 20 people on July 10.
