Finance Minister Brian Cowen is reportedly planning to give the Revenue Commissioners more powers to prosecute advisors who facilitate tax evasion by their clients.

Finance Minister Brian Cowen is reportedly planning to give the Revenue Commissioners more powers to prosecute advisors who facilitate tax evasion by their clients.

Reports this morning said the move would be unveiled as part of the Finance Bill later today.

The new law will reportedly be similar to one introduced in Britain recently to make aiding and abetting tax evasion a specific criminal offence.
