Cork driver, Michael Keohane, finished fifth in today’s eleventh round of the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Championship at Silverstone, where race officials disqualified Robbie Kerr, who took the chequered flag.
On the third lap of the race, the cars of Kerr and championship leader, James Courtney touched.
Having watched video evidence, race officials decided to disqualify Kerr.
Courtney who had to retire, collected one championship point for setting the fastest lap.
Mark Taylor was promoted to first from Fabio Carbone and Portadown’s, Mathew Gilmore, who attained his best finish of the season. The Northern Ireland driver recently switch to Promatecme Motorsport.
Keohane had a torrid time in qualifying and had to start from 13th.plave.
He moved to ninth on the first lap and by the 10th lap he was sixth. With Kerr’s disqualification, he
finished the race in fifth.
Dungannon’s, Stephen Colbert was the top Irish driver in the Scholarship Class - he was second with series leader, Adam Carol spinning out of the lead and finishing fourth.

twelfth round race tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Cork’s, Matt Griffin in fifth is the
highest placed Irish driver for tomorrow’s Formula
Renault Championship race.
Limerick’s, David Lyons has won the latest round of
the Ford ka Championship from Gerry Keyes and Kieran
Mulvaney.
