Five fishermen rescued from two stranded trawlers

The lifeboat services in Cork and Mayo have rescued five fishermen after their trawlers got into difficulty during separate incidents this morning.

The lifeboat services in Cork and Mayo have rescued five fishermen after their trawlers got into difficulty during separate incidents this morning.

Three crewmen were rescued from their vessel, the Paulona, off the coast of Ballycotton, Co Cork, while another two were rescued from the Rachael D off the coast of Belderrig, Co Mayo.

Both vessels had become stranded when fishing gear got entangled in their propellers.

None of the fishermen was injured.
