Dublin’s ancient Christ Church Cathedral is to be transformed with a modern music-and-light display to celebrate Christmas.

The show will take place tonight and includes 40ft angels flying across the high ceilings, short films and liturgy. The event, Essential at Christ Church, is being organised by Dublin and Glendalough Diocesan Youth Initiative.

More than 500 people, mostly young people from the dioceses, are expected to attend.

The organisers said a highlight of the show will be the Johnny Parks Band, a popular Christian group from Belfast.
