The official report into the treatment of elderly patients at the Leas Cross nursing home in north Co Dublin is due to be published later today.
The report will be the second to be compiled since a 'Prime Time Investigates' programme raised serious concerns about the manner in which patients were being treated.
An initial inquiry conducted by consultant geriatrician Professor Des O'Neil found that the level of care was so low it constituted "institutional abuse".
That conclusion led to the establishment by the Government of a full commission of investigation tasked with examining the management, operation and supervision of Leas Cross.
Its long-awaited report will be published by Health Minister Mary Harney today.
