Ben Crane carded a second consecutive bogey-free round and was holding the lead when the second round of the US Bank Championship in Milwaukee was suspended due to darkness.
The 29-year-old shot a five-under-par 65 to finish at 13 under on 127 – two shots clear of Scott Verplank and Jeff Sluman.
Verplank also fired a 65 and Sluman was five under for the round after 17 holes.
After a five-and-a-half hour rain delay on Thursday, many players spent the day completing their first 18 holes and starting the second round which will be completed early on Saturday.
When the second round is completed, the cut will be made and the third round will be played as scheduled.
Tommy Armour III also carded a 65 and is tied for fourth with Chris Smith and Brad Faxon at nine under.
Smith signed for a 67 and Faxon is on six under after 15 holes of the the 6,759-yard, par-70 Brown Deer Park Golf Club.
Paraguay’s Carlos Franco, who has just one top-10 finish this year but is defending this title, shot a second-round 67 and is currently tied for 43rd at three under.
