Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has been nominated for the FIFA World Player of the Year award.

Henry, who scored twice in the Gunners’ fabulous 5-1 victory at Inter Milan in the Champions League last night, has been nominated along with fellow French international Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, who won the accolade last year, will be looking to win the award for an unprecedented fourth time while his Real Madrid team-mate Zidane will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of triumphs having previously won in 1998 and 2000.

Arsenal striker Henry has never before made it to the final three in the voting.

The winner will be announced at the FIFA World Player Gala in Basle, Switzerland, on December 15.
