Man still critical after light aircraft crash near Knock

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a light aircraft crash near Knock Airport in Co Mayo yesterday.

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a light aircraft crash near Knock Airport in Co Mayo yesterday.

The man was a passenger in a small plane that crashed at Cloonamna just before 5pm.

The pilot, who died in the incident, is understood to have reported difficulties with the aircraft was en route to Weston Airport in Dublin and was trying to return to Knock.

Air accident investigators are due to begin examining the wreckage today to determine the cause of the crash.
