The Irish Stock Exchange is calling for a new policy to help Irish companies grow into large scale enterprises.
It says there is a chasm between the current policies for start-up companies and those who wish to expand on a global scale.
Speaking at the Irish Enterprise Funding for Growth conference in Dublin, the head of the Irish Stock Exchange, Deirdre Somers, said there are a number of issues facing companies who want to grow.
"You need to look at the needs of growing companies, you need to what are the resource constraints that they have, what are the management constraints they have, what supports can we give them in internationalising their business," she said.
"They need to be easily able to take something off the table, de-risk their lives and be encouraged to build their business into the next phase and take more risks."
