Jamelia 'elated' at surprise pregnancy
British R&B star Jamelia is thrilled to be expecting her second child - even though it was unplanned.
The Superstar singer announced last month she is three months pregnant with her first child with soccer playing boyfriend Darren Byfield.
But when Jamelia fell pregnant with her first child Teja in 2001, the news was not so welcome - not only was she desperate to concentrate on her blossoming career, she was enduring a "terrible relationship" that she was reluctant to bring a baby into.
She admits: "At that point, it was devastating to find out I was pregnant. I was trying to get somewhere with my career and I was breaking through, but I was also in a terrible relationship.
"But this time, after the initial shock, I was elated - I knew that Darren would be over the moon. And my daughter's so happy."
And although Jamelia is only taking a brief sabbatical after the birth, family life with devoted Byfield appears to be beckoning.
She adds, "Darren asks me to marry him every single day. I know Darren is the one I am going to be with forever, and we will get married eventually."
