A galaxy of British, American and Irish stars, including U2, have come together to raise money for the families of those killed in the US attacks.

The star-studded line-up featured Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Julia Roberts, Clint Eastwood, U2 and Tom Cruise.

The two-hour telethon, during which viewers were invited to pledge money, was broadcast to 156 countries.

It is expected to raise tens of millions of dollars, worldwide.
