O’Driscoll loses Leinster captaincy

Leo Cullen is set to replace Brian O'Driscoll as captain of the Leinster team for the forthcoming season.

O'Driscoll has led the side for the past three years, culminating with victory in the Magners League last season.

Cullen took over the captaincy on seven occasions last year and will have Shane Jennings and Chris Whitaker as his vice-captains next season.

O'Driscoll's future as Ireland captain is also in doubt, with new coach Declan Kidney suggesting during the summer that he was considering taking some pressure off the influential centre.

The player himself, however, says he wants to continue on as international captain, but says he is currently focusing on getting back into top form.
