'Rock and Roll' run closes Dublin roads

The inaugural 'Rock n Roll' Half Marathon is taking place in Dublin today.

The inaugural 'Rock n Roll' Half Marathon is taking place in Dublin today.

The race started at 8.30am in St Stephen's Green in the city centre and will travel to the Phoenix Park before finishing on Earlsfort Terrace.

The 'Rock 'n' Roll' element will be added with live bands dotted along the course.

Hailed as a one-of-a-kind street party for athletes old and young, this 21km run benefits the Serious Fun Children's Network.

Motorists visiting the city are reminded that St. Stephens Green South is closed until 1:30pm and Earlsfort Terrace is closed until 2pm.

Gardai will also be implementing rolling road closures throughout the afternoon on the race route.
