A teenager has been killed whilst cutting trees in Co Limerick today.

A teenager has been killed whilst cutting trees in Co Limerick today.

The 17-year-old trainee jockey from Murroe, Co Limerick, died after he fell from a trailer attached to a tractor.

According to gardaí, the deceased died instantly after the wheels of the trailer rolled over him.

He was due to celebrate his 18th birthday next Wednesday.

Gardaí are not releasing his name until all family members have been notified of the tragedy.

Gardaí confirmed that the incident happened at around 11:45am this morning at Howardstown House, a stud farm owned by Irish horse trainer Enda Bulger.

It is located between Athlacca and Bruree in South East Limerick.

The young man's body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick in the city where a post mortem is due to be carried out on the remains.

Gardaí at Bruff and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating.

A Garda spokesman confirmed the deceased was attending a jockey training centre in Murroe, Co Limerick.
