Wednesday’s meeting at Kelso is in doubt as the track is still frozen from the recent cold snap.
Following a frost on Sunday night and another expected tonight, acting clerk of the Harriet Graham has called an inspection for 1pm on Tuesday.
The milder weather that is forecast may come too late to save the fixture.
“We are beginning to run out of time a bit. We’ve still got a bit of frost in the ground, though it has been raining this morning,” said Graham.
“Frustratingly, this mild weather is not due to come in until late Wednesday morning and that will not be soon enough for us. Saying that if we get more rain it will help wash the frost out
“We’ve decided to have the inspection tomorrow because if it is shifting away and we are nearly raceable then we will have a look again on Wednesday morning first thing.
“At the moment the landings and take-offs are still frozen. If we have two days above freezing then we will be all right, but we might get down to minus 2C tonight.”
