Two women aged 19 and 44 are due in court in the North today in connection with the discovery of an alleged bomb-making factory in a housing estate in Co Antrim on Friday.

The pair are facing firearms and explosives charges in connection with Friday's find, which happened during a 13-hour security operation in the Castlemara estate.

Pipe-bombs, a booby-trap device, explosive powder, bomb components, bomb-making manuals and equipment were found during the search along with a handgun and ammunition.

The seizure was made as part of police efforts to quell the ongoing feud between the Ulster Defence Association leadership and its renegade west Belfast commander, Johnny Adair, who was sent back to prison on Friday night for breaching the terms of his early release.
