The Association of Secondary Teachers’ standing committee is meeting this morning to discuss its response to the benchmarking report published earlier this week.

The ASTI was not a part of the benchmarking process, but it has pledged to take legal action if its members do not receive the full 13% pay rise recommended in the report.

ASTI refused to co-operate with benchmarking because it felt the process would not deliver the 30% pay rise it has been seeking for years.

The union is expected to adopt a wait-and-see attitude at its meeting today.
