Leo Varadkar has claimed nobody in Fianna Fáil wants to be Minister for Health and that the party would give the job away in a coalition.
He has lashed out at Fianna Fáil's criticism of the health service, saying the system is now in a better state than it was under the previous government.
Last night he told the Dáil that the Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin's solution to the hospital crisis was to demand more trolleys.
And he said Deputy Martin's tenure was so poor, Fianna Fáil gave the position away after him.
“So scarred by their experience they were happy to leave the Ministry to Mary Harney even after the demise of the PDs in 2007, nobody in Fianna Fáil wanted the job so they left it to an Independent,” Mr Varadkar said.
“And I suspect it is the same old Fianna Fáil, I’m sure they don’t want it now and won’t after the election.”
