Aer Arann is to begin a new Galway to Edinburgh service from Friday December 19 2003.
The airline will provide a daily flight on weekdays from Galway Airport to cater for leisure and business passengers.
This new route will add to the regional airline's 90 flights per week in and out of Galway airport on three routes including Galway to Dublin, London Luton and Manchester.
Commenting on the announcement, Jennifer Mooney, Commercial Manager, Aer Arann said: "Initially we planned to operate a Galway Glasgow Prestwick service.
"However, Edinburgh is a more popular short break destination and with substantial demand for this service both ways this route made the most commercial sense," Mooney added.
The 80-minute flight will leave Galway at 19:45 and the returning leg will depart Edinburgh at 21: 35 and will be aboard a 48 seater ATR42 aircraft.
Fares start at €129 return including tax.
Aer Arann carried 115,000 passengers through Galway Aiport this year out of total projected passenger count of 650,000.
It has a reported turnover of €60m.
