A man has died while in garda custody in County Waterford.

Man dies in Garda custody in Waterford

A man has died while in garda custody in County Waterford.

The man, who was in his 20s, was being detained at Dungarvan Garda Station. His body was discovered shortly before 11am this morning.

The Garda Ombudsman has launched an investigation and officials from the Ombudsman's office are travelling to Dungarvan.

The young man's body is still at the scene and the state pathologist's office has been notified.

A post mortem examination will be conducted on the man's remains at Waterford Regional Hospital tomorrow.
