Agent: Eto'o wants to stay at Barca

Samuel Eto’o’s agent has confirmed his client would like to remain at Barcelona next season.

Samuel Eto’o’s agent has confirmed his client would like to remain at Barcelona next season.

Josep Maria Mesalles held a press conference in Barcelona this morning in a bid to clear up the confusion surrounding the Cameroon striker, whose contract at the Nou Camp is due to expire at the end of next season.

Mesalles revealed Barca last night offered Eto’o a new two-year deal on the same terms as his existing agreement in a bid to ward off interest from Manchester City.

City have reportedly made a £25m bid for Eto’o and offered him a contract described by Barca president Joan Laporta as “stratospheric”.

And Mesalles revealed the former Real Madrid man would be willing to discuss a move to Eastlands should Barca opt to sell.

Eto’o is currently on holiday but will report back to Barca for pre-season training on July 20.
