The Taoiseach says he hopes talks on elections in the North will be wrapped up within the next 48 hours.

The Taoiseach says he hopes talks on elections in the North will be wrapped up within the next 48 hours.

Bertie Ahern was speaking after talks with the British Prime Minister Tony Blair this morning and as negotiations continue between republicans and the Ulster Unionist Party to try and reach a deal.

Mr Ahern's statement came as a date for the Northern Ireland Assembly elections looks likely to be set at November 26.
