Man in court in connection with heroin seizure

A 39-year-old man has appeared at a special sitting of Dunshaughlin District Court, charged in connection with yesterday's heroin seizure in Meath and Westmeath.

A 39-year-old man has appeared at a special sitting of Dunshaughlin District Court, charged in connection with yesterday's heroin seizure in Meath and Westmeath.

He was arrested yesterday in a joint operation involving Customs officers at Dublin Port, members of the National Drugs Unit and gardaí from Meath.

Ten kilograms of heroin, worth an estimated €2m and cash in the region of €250,000 were seized.

A woman who was arrested in a follow-up operation has been released without charge, while a second man remains in Garda custody.
