Man held after cannabis factory found in Westmeath

Gardaí have seized 400 cannabis plants following the planned search of a premises in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath earlier today.

Gardaí have seized 400 cannabis plants following the planned search of a premises in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath earlier today.

The drugs are believed to have a potential street value of €160,000.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and is being detained at Naas Garda Station.

In a follow-up search in Rathangan, Co Kildare, equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis were also seized by gardaí.
