Gardai in Dublin are investigating the cause of a fire which forced the evacuation of an entire city centre street last night.

Gardai in Dublin are investigating the cause of a fire which forced the evacuation of an entire city centre street last night.

The blaze broke out in an apartment in Hugenot House on Merrion Row at around 7pm and took three hours to bring under control.

The street was sealed off while firefighters tackled the fire and several pubs, restaurants and offices were evacuated.

Nobody was injured, but the fire caused substantial damage to buildings.
