Victims' groups welcome call for murder law overhaul

Victims' groups are welcoming calls from the Law Reform Commission for a major overhaul of Ireland's murder legislation.

Victims' groups are welcoming calls from the Law Reform Commission for a major overhaul of Ireland's murder legislation.

The commission is calling for a new offence of assault causing death to cover low levels of deliberate violence which result in death.

The victims' group AdVic says it would support such a move as there can be problems with the current classification of murder or manslaughter.
