New Order have split, according to bassist Peter Hook.

Hook - who is now working on a solo project with Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell - made the admission during a radio interview.

He says: "I spoke to Perry, and asked me to play bass, as he'd head about New Order splitting up and he asked me to play bass. Well yeah, me and Bernard (Sumner) aren't working together."

Hook blames Sumner for the split after leaving the group to work with dance act Electronic.

He says: "Bernard went off for a break with Electronic but that was different. But it's like the boy who cried wolf this time."
