Bush orders experts to develop new nuclear weapon
US President George W Bush has reportedly ordered experts to develop the first new nuclear missile in 10 years.
The Bush administration wants to construct a nuclear 'bunker-buster' which would burrow 300ft under the ground before detonating with a power equivalent to 2,000 tonnes of high explosives.
The bomb would be used against underground weapons stores and the atomic fallout would also apparently be confined below ground, although vibrations would cause extensive surface damage.
