Haatef enters Foret equation

Kevin Prendergast is eyeing a crack at the Prix de la Foret with Haatef.

Kevin Prendergast is eyeing a crack at the Prix de la Foret with Haatef.

The three-year-old flopped when well fancied in the 2000 Guineas but after subsequently winning a minor event, the colt landed the odds in a Listed heat at Fairyhouse.

Haatef was last seen finishing third in a Leopardstown Group Three in August.

Prendergast had entered the son of Danzig in Saturday’s Betfred Sprint Cup but will stay nearer to home before a possible French assignment on October 6.

“He’s well in himself and will probably run in a six-furlong race at the next Curragh meeting,” said Prendergast. “We’ll then have a look at the seven-furlong Foret at Longchamp on Arc weekend for him.”
