Wigan manager Paul Jewell’s relegation fears could increase if a centre-half crisis fails to ease ahead of the weekend.
Jewell could potentially be without four central defenders for Sunday’s JJB Stadium clash with European hopefuls Tottenham.
Emmerson Boyce faces another few weeks out after cracking three ribs in the win at Manchester City at the start of last month.
Skipper Arjan de Zeeuw missed the Easter games at home to Bolton and at Aston Villa with a back injury, while David Unsworth and Fitz Hall are now doubts.
Unsworth managed just the first half of Monday’s 1-1 draw at Villa as he sustained a groin strain.
Hall, who had started the game at right-back, moved across after the break to cover for Unsworth, but was substituted after seven minutes of the second period due to a knee injury.
If de Zeeuw, Unsworth and Hall fail to shake off their injuries, Jewell may start with Paul Scharner alongside Matt Jackson for the visit of Tottenham.
Scharner finished the game with Villa in that role after starting in midfield, or Andreas Granqvist may come in for a rare game.
The Swede has made just one substitute appearance since arriving on loan in January for the remainder of the season from Helsingborgs.
