Ronaldo predicting tough time for Chelsea

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has targeted a place in the Champions League final this season – but he expects rivals Chelsea to struggle on the trophy front after the departure of Jose Mourinho.

The Portugal international believes the Red Devils have the capability to go all the way to the final in Moscow next May and said there was a determination to do well in Europe’s premier club competition.

“Manchester United is the favourite (for the Champions League). Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter also have good chances,” said Ronaldo, who also revealed a long-time desire to succeed at international level after finishing fourth at last year’s World Cup in Germany.

“We want to reach the final at the very least. I am extremely ambitious and want to win every title.

“I especially want to win the World Cup. For Portugal to get fourth place in Germany last year was not a failure.”

Meanwhile, Mourinho’s shock exit from Stamford Bridge last month left new coach Avram Grant with a huge act to follow and Portugal international Ronaldo believes that cannot fail but to have an impact.

“Chelsea without Mourinho, that’s a completely different team,” Ronaldo, according to The Times, told Austrian newspaper Heute.

“You can never write Chelsea off, but I have a feeling that this will not be a good season for them.”
