Vanilla Ice has confirmed he is to compete in the new series of 'Dancing On Ice'.

The 90s hip-hop star has admitted he has been approached to compete in the ice skating competition next January, but is terrified about how he will cope with learning how to "boogie" on the ice.

When asked about the show, he said: "Is that already out? I thought I was supposed to be quiet about that. Everybody told me to shut up about it. I don't know how to ice skate! I can rollerblade, I can do the whole roller boogie thing on roller blades, but I don't know about the ice skates.

"I've got good rhythm, so I hope that comes through for me."

The 42-year-old singer - real name Robert Matthew Van Winkle - is also desperate to perform to his iconic track 'Ice Ice Baby' when he competes in the show.

He added: "Would I do a routine to 'Ice Ice Baby'? Absolutely. But only if I don't crash!"

And Vanilla has admitted he is unfazed by the flamboyant costumes he may need to wear on the ice.

He explained: "How do I feel about that? Not so good, it sounds a little friendly to me but you know what, I'm always up for a good laugh now. I've had therapy so it can't be too much more embarrassing than those old uniforms I used to wear back in the day."

Kerry Katona, Calum Best and Tim Westwood are among the other stars rumoured to be taking the ice rink when the show returns early next year.
