Michael Owen has revealed his recovery from injury is going well and that he is ahead of schedule for a first team return.

The Liverpool striker sustained a hamstring injury against Tottenham two weeks ago and there were some reports that he faced as long as six weeks on the sidelines.

But Owen, who was ruled out of England's World Cup qualifier with Greece at the weekend, has confirmed he should be back in action in 'days rather than weeks'.

He told his club's official website: "It's much better than was first thought. They were saying four, five or six weeks but I should be back sooner than that.

"Obviously I've done no sprinting yet but I am feeling no problems after jogging. It's a matter of days not weeks now."
