Munster Rugby have announced today that forwards coach Laurie Fisher will not continue with the province after the current season finishes.
Fisher was appointed by current coach Tony McGahan at the beginning of the 2008/09 season following the departure of then forwards coach Jim Williams, who took up a position with the Australian international set-up.
Fisher was brought in initially on a two-year contract, having coached the hugely successful Super 15 outfit the ACT Brumbies for four seasons, and was subsequently offered a third term with Munster.
However, by mutual consent, the option of a fourth season has not been considered by either party.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Munster. To be involved in a club with such history, tradition and passion has been a wonderful experience. I’ve had the pleasure to work with some of the world’s best players and others who will be in the future,” said Fisher following today’s announcement.
“I’m disappointed to have not achieved the holy grail of Heineken Cup success but there is still a European challenge there for us this season and the Magners League is very much in our sights. I will follow Munster’s progress in the future as a new generation of player emerges, and will long carry the memory of the unique atmosphere that is a full house at Thomond Park Stadium.”
Munster rRugby are due to announce a successor shortly.
