The Tánaiste Mary Harney has confirmed that the Comptroller and Auditor General's report into the controversial PPARS computer payroll system will be published this week.

The Tánaiste Mary Harney has confirmed that the Comptroller and Auditor General's report into the controversial PPARS computer payroll system will be published this week.

Minister for Education Harney read the value-for-money study over the weekend, and said there are a lot of lessons to be learned.

The roll-out of the €150m system was suspended after controversy over consultants Delloitte and Touche getting nearly €40m for work on the project.

The Minister said that while she does have 90 days to make a decision, she will not be waiting that long: “We’re happy to allow it to proceed to the next stage. I see no reason to sit on it for three months.”

“I have to say, there are a lot of lessons we have to learn from what happened with PPARS,” she added.
