Teachers of Ronan Kerr were left stunned today as they paid tribute to the former pupil.
PSNI officer Kerr attended Omagh Christian Brothers Grammar School and excelled at his studies and sport. His brothers Aaron and Cathair also went there.
Principal Paul Brannigan said staff were shocked by the weekend tragedy.
“He was a very hard-working, quiet young man with great attention to detail in everything that he did,” he said.
“On behalf of the whole school community we are extending our condolences to the family of Ronan Kerr who was so tragically killed. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their mothers.”
He went on to study at university before deciding to join the police force.
Mr Brannigan added of Ronan and his brothers: “They were proud to be young men in this part of the world and members of their own family.
“We have lost a member of the school community, people here in the school are stunned by what has happened in the town.”
