Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O'Leary is renewing his call for the scrapping of the travel tax, and a reversal of the hike in airport charges.

Yesterday, the Transport Minister Leo Varadkar said the €3 tax is to remain in place, pending a further review next Spring.

The Government had planned to suspend the tax, if agreement could be reached with airlines on re-instating cancelled routes and restoring lost capacity.

Howeverm Mr O'Leary has said Ryanair will deliver five million extra passengers into Ireland over the next five years if the fees are curbed.
