Enterprise Ireland confirms investment in Pilot Training College

Enterprise Ireland has confirmed that it invested around €440,000 in the Pilot Training College in Waterford.

Enterprise Ireland has confirmed that it invested around €440,000 in the Pilot Training College in Waterford.

The college, which is now undergoing restructuring, is at the centre of controversy after 80 of its trainees were left stranded in Florida, when their course was halted.

The trainees now face losing €85,000 in fees each.

Enterprise Ireland has said it invested in the college in 2010 in the form of repayable financial support.

A spokesperson has said they became aware of problems at the college last week and they are in contact with the company.

However, the spokesperson said the investment affords it no say in the day-to-day running of the company.
