Titus Alone, who gave Bryan Smart his first Royal Ascot success when landing the Windsor Castle Stakes at York last week, is to remain over five furlongs for his next outing.
That will be in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury on July 16.
The unbeaten colt thwarted hot favourite Strike Up The Band in the Windsor Castle and is considered at least on a par with Don Puccini, who was Smart’s previous Super Sprint winner.
The trainer said: “He’s a real speed horse, and although he’ll stick to sales races for the time being including the Tattersalls race at the Curragh, I will try him over six furlongs at some point.”
Smart added that he has given Sir Xaar a break following his cracking effort to finish fourth in the Coventry Stakes.
He continued: “I let him down after York but will start him back next week to see where we are. I could be wrong, but it would surprise me if the first five in the Coventry are not genuine Group horses.”
