Two more Seanad seats for FF

Fianna Fáil have rallied in the Seanad elections, winning two seats in the last hour.

Outgoing Senator Labhrás Ó Murchú and former Meath East TD Thomas Byrne were elected on the 13th count, to the Cultural & Educational panel.

Earlier, Fine Gael won the first seat, with the announcement that Deirdre Clune had been successful in her bid to join the panel.

Counting has been continuing all day for the Educational and Cultural panel.

There are 122 candidates contesting 43 out of the 60 seats.

It is expected the counting could continue for a number of days.
