Ten language planning officers have been appointed countrywide in recent months, and one of them has an unusual background.
Dr Victor Bayda is originally from Moscow and while he, of course, speaks Russian, he also has a grá for Gaeilge.
Victor is fluent in Irish and taught the language in Moscow for 15 years.
He even has a PhD in it, having written a thesis on aspects of the Irish language.
He has now been appointed as the Irish language planning officer for the south Kerry Gaeltacht area.
Victor will be tasked with implementing an action plan to revive the Irish language in Uíbh Ráthach.
The 2016 census show 7% of the Gaeltacht population speak Irish on a daily basis outside the education system.
Victor moved from Moscow to Kerry at the weekend.
