Blackburn have tonight confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Peter Enckelman, who has passed his medical and is now officially a Rovers player.
Following a successful loan period at Ewood Park through November and December, the Finnish international goalkeeper has transferred from Aston Villa on a three-and-a-half year deal.
The two clubs have agreed an initial fee of £150,000 (€214,352) with more to follow based on first team appearances and Rovers’ league position.
Graeme Souness reiterated his delight at the move, which transforms Enckelman’s extended loan into a permanent deal.
He said: “Peter is a great signing for us. We are delighted to have him on board, he will push the other goalkeepers – which can only be good.”
The completion of the deal came too late for the goalkeeper to be involved in the Premiership game against Wolves at Molineux tomorrow night.
He is, however, expected to provide cover for Brad Friedel against Bolton at Ewood Park on Saturday.
