Two Mayo brothers have been detained overnight after being charged with IRA membership.

Two Mayo brothers have been detained overnight after being charged with IRA membership.

Colin Mannion (aged 31) and his 29-year-old brother Brian, of Burriscarra in Claremorris, appeared before the Special Criminal Court yesterday evening.

They were also charged with explosives offences after gardaí said they found bomb making equipment during a search of their home on Saturday.

Neither applied for bail, They have been remanded in custody to appear in court again on Friday.
