1,200 jobs 'at risk' at Shorts in Belfast
The Shorts aerospace company has announced that 1,200 Belfast workers may be laid off this year as part of a worldwide restructuring scheme.
Shorts' Canadian owners, Bombardier Aerospace, said it plans to shed 3,000 jobs in Canada and the North because of "challenging market conditions".
In Belfast, local management told trade unions today that 1,180 jobs are "at risk" over the coming 12 months.
